From my years of using Generic Cadd, I am used to using the right mouse button to click on the video menus on the right side of the screen using tandem cursor - on. Please consider giving me the option of doing that in GCP.

Did you try the swap B2<>B3 option in MA?

Milan,

If more users are interested, we could add another checkbox to MA: "Right Button tandem cursor picks". How did GC do it? I always used the middle button.

I have a Logitech Mouseman+ 4 button mouse. I am able to assign to the right mouse button the "Middle Button" function. To do this, I had to go to the Windows control panel and change the button assignments. It seems to work fine.

I also have a Microsoft Intellimouse whose driver lets you change mouse button assignments depending on the program you are using so that may also be an option.

In Windows GCP, a lot of new features will require the use of the right mouse button. If this change is made for you, you may be short changing yourself on these new features. I suggest that a better idea may be to retrain yourself to use the middle button.

Jim, Matt, Ronn,

yes, the GC manuals and R.S.Newton's 'Inside Generic CADD6, second edition 1992' do prefer the use of three button mouse. Newton says on page 77 "The rest of this book relies on the third mouse button to ....."

-------------------------
In GC the configuration for two button mouse:
-First button to place points on the drawing
-Second button to select items from menu (when DI>T is 'On')
then Shift+First gets 'NP'

-------------------------
In GC the other configuration for three
button mouse:
-First button to place points on the drawing
-Second button to select items from menu (when DI>T is 'On')
-Third button to issue the Snap to Nearest Point 'NP' command

This one is considered normal for both GC and GCP.

Today we say Left/Middle/Right for First/Second/Third respectivelly.

------------------------
Those users prefering to have selection for the menu by right button had to have the two button mouse configuration in use for a long long time with GC.

Experimentally, I also did have swapped (using the Windows Setting) the Middle for Right in GCP for a period of two weeks (some time ago) to see if this is any good for me. It never was good - it was very hard to change my old 'normal' habit.

Therefore and equally, I can understand that some minority users would like to have the buttons B2 < > B3 fully swapped from inside of GCP.

Am I understanding this correctly??? that some people prefer to have the select a Command from the 'Side Menu' rather than have it 'snap' to a "Closest Point"??? No way for 'Both' is there?
I was unaware too that the could be used to 'select commands'. Thanks.

Personally, I prefer the 'simple, quick and easy' "Two-key" Method because I don't have to move my pointer from the "D-Spot" (Drawing Spot).
To each his own, huh.
